Work Restart Programme Spring 2022

The WORK RESTART PROGRAMME is our funded programme for Groundworks UK using funding from European Social Fund & The Education and Skills Agency helping women in Coventry & Warwickshire return to work.

Participants are supported over a 3-month period through group sessions, drop in surgeries and individual coaching to find their confidence, overcome any hurdles to finding meaningful work and move into employment or retraining through the support of the Career-Mums team.  Apply here.

Would you benefit from support to put you in the best place to find work that fits in with your family life?

We know how daunting it can feel after taking time out from work to find a new job or even decide what to do. Combine that with parenting or caring responsibilities, we often think we’re looking for the impossible or settling for the first thing that comes along.

The Career-Mums team have successfully supported women returning to work for the last 5 years and are delighted to be bringing this funded programme to Coventry & Warwickshire residents again in March 2022.

Whether you are considering part-time or full-time employment, starting your own business or retraining for a new career direction, this Programme will help you get ahead of the game.

* Attend a weekly 2 hour group session (held online using Zoom for ease of access) one day per week for 6 weeks.  Sessions take place normally on Wednesday mornings during school hours.
  The group sessions cover:
  • exploring what you ideally want to do
  • working out how to fit this around family commitments
  • getting prepared with the actual skills and know-how to find your ideal role
  • building your confidence and work readiness
  • and lots more …

* Follow-up sessions (individual and group) to support you on your journey to securing your ideal role.

* Optional workshops on writing winning CVs, starting your own business, presenting well & money management

* Comprehensive workbook full of useful content and other resources all designed to help you practically and emotionally prepare for a successful return to work.

* Dedicated online community space to support and encourage each other

This Programme is free for participants – it’s fully funded by the European Social Fund and the Education & Skills Funding Agency.

The programme is delivered by Sally & Nishi from Career-Mums – both experienced return to work coaches. They have successfully delivered this Programme previously helping many women to progress in their working lives.

The Work Restart Programme is for you, if you can say ‘YES‘ to each of these:

  • you’re female, aged 18+
  • you’ve been out of work for at least 6 months by 1st October 2021
  • you’re a resident of Coventry & Warwickshire
  • you’ve got the right to live and work in the UK.

To join the programme, complete this short application form.

Once we’ve received your form we will contact you to have a chat about the Programme. If you’d like to speak with us before you complete the form, contact us and we’ll give you a call to answer any of your questions.

There are a limited number of places on the Programme – once places are filled we will run a wait list for any future programmes.

Some of the roles that our previous participants have gone into include project manager, care coordinator, data engineer, office manager and teaching assistant. Some have gone on to set up their own business, join a training course and also volunteer as a stepping stone into a new sector of work.
Sally, co-founder of Career-Mums, says, “We love getting to know our participants through our Programme and seeing their confidence and career-readiness improve through our support. Many participants tell us that the programme has been life changing as it has given them a new sense of motivation and optimism for the future.  Here’s what some of our previous participants have said:

“I can highly recommend the Work Restart Programme. Nishi & Sally gave me all the help I needed to remind me of what I was capable of and gave me the confidence and knowledge of how to best apply for jobs. I’m so pleased I did the programme as I’m now doing a job I love, in hours that work for me around my children’ school hours”

“I went from feeling a little anxious and unmotivated about job hunting to full of energy”

“I was grateful for the quality and quantity of the content. The programme far exceeded my expectations and I’d totally underestimated the power of being with a group of women – it was so powerful listening and sharing with the rest of the group”

The first group session is scheduled to start on Wednesday 16th March 2022. Before this we’ll need to receive your application (apply here) and have a chat with you about the Programme.  We’ll also complete a short skills assessment with you before you get started (which we’ll also complete again at the end of the Programme so we can measure our impact). There are 6 weekly group sessions lasting 2 hours – usually on a Wednesday morning – all other support is very flexible on timing and we’ll expect you to do a small amount of “homework” between each session to enable you to get the most from the Programme.

Some of our participants secure work before the end of the Programme. For others we’ll continue to support you on a regular basis until the end of the Programme in June 2022 by which time we’ll anticipate you’ll have progressed into employment, training or self-employment.
